One of the many reasons that I like to study Rolex is all the branding efforts it makes to promote its watches. No, I’m not talking about the paid celebrity endorsements, glossy magazine spreads, or dramatic TV ads — I’m speaking about the extra distance the Swiss watchmaking giant goes to brand as many components of its replica watches UK as possible. The Perpetual 1908 collection came out in 2023 as Rolex’s latest attempt to dominate the dress watch category, supplanting the somewhat struggling Cellini line once and for all. To be fair, the slim, formal, and — most importantly for our discussion here — leather strap-clad Cellini never stood a chance sitting next to some of the world’s most famous 1:1 fake Rolex watches like the Submariner, Daytona, and Day-Date. As with the leather strap variants, the bracelet-fitted yellow gold Perpetual 1908 is available with an Intense White or Intense Black dial with fine satin finish. The version in our hands was the white one (my preferred choice), and the crisp frosty finish makes it look a hair bigger than expected. The customary Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12 o’clock are a nice touch, a design trait inspired by some of the earliest super clone Rolex watches for men with Perpetual rotors.
Since the Caliber 7140 is visible through the sapphire crystal (still a rarity for Rolex watches), it’s a looker compared to other Rolex movements hidden away under solid casebacks. The $35,000 USD price tag is not an insignificant barrier to entry, but that is less expensive than full yellow gold Day-Date, so that’s something to think about.
